* HD Opera: Live from the Met: Puccini's La Fanciulla del West Saturday, Jan 23, 2027 11 am- Paragon Pavilion Theater
Giacomo Puccini lived a life as dramatic and emotionally rich as the operas he created, blending personal passion with extraordinary musical sensitivity. Born in 1858 in Lucca, Italy, he rose to become one of opera’s greatest composers, carving out an intensely human style. His works—like La Bohème, Tosca, and Madama Butterfly—are beloved for their soaring melodies, vivid characters, and heart-wrenching realism, often portraying love, sacrifice, and longing with cinematic intensity. By the time of his death in 1924, he had transformed opera into an art form that felt immediate and deeply relatable, leaving behind a legacy that continues to move audiences around the world.
